Report on Progress of SSA Crawford Chapter
Dearest Sensei and Mrs. Ikeda,
We sincerely wish and pray that Sensei and Mrs. Ikeda are in the pink of health and high spirits! We were honored and overjoyed to learn that Sensei received the 500th Honorary Citizenship from the City of Tucheng in Taipei County, Taiwan on May 6. Congratulations to Sensei!
We would like to take this opportunity to report to Sensei our activities in the last 5 months.
Beginning this year we set a bold target of 40 new Gohonzon recipients, in commemoration of SSA’s 40th Anniversary. It is quite a challenging campaign as this target is almost 4 times the result of the 9 new recipients last year. All of us, especially the Women’s Division (WD) leaders were excited and passionate. We listed out more than 40 names of potential recipients, pray for them and take action for them. We were determined to score a clear and decisive victory with itai-doshin. In the course of the campaign, we were faced with many obstacles and challenges. Some of the husbands of the WD believers objected strongly to their practice. Some leaders and new believers were fighting with their sickness. We fought on together, chant together, encouraging each other and joyfully advancing to breakthrough our karma.
We are happy to report to Sensei some of our breakthroughs in the month of May.
1. We achieved 11 new Gohonzon recipients by May. We fought together and are now gaining the momentum. Thus, we target to achieve 20 by June.
2. We formed a new District on May 3. This is our 5th District and the very 1st that would conduct the discussion meeting in English language. This will surely allow more new members of the Youth Division, many of whom English speaking, to participate in our activities.
3. We have 123 members attended the Study Meetings held in the Districts, as compared to the average attendance of 90 in last year.
4. In our efforts to foster the Students and Future Divisions members, we have appointed some students members to be Student Representatives in their own Districts. These youthful brothers and sisters would consolidate and work hand in hand with the 4 Division leaders in taking care and fostering the student members in their Districts.
Sensei, we pledge to further strengthen our commitment for kosen-rufu, as Sensei’s disciples who possess the strength of a thousand. Please continue to watch over our growth.
Lastly, we will pray sincerely for your continued good health, safety and great success of your endeavors each day.
